Public Support Needed for Commemorative Military Postage Stamp, “Never Forget Them”
September 13, 2004 -- In 1964, Stuart painted “Never Forget Them” while serving in the U.S. military. In 2000 he donated the rights for reproduction of this painting to be used as a U.S. postage stamp. It was submitted by the Postmaster of Tampa, Florida to the U.S. Postal Service for consideration. In 2004, 40 years later, Stuart painted “Never Forget Them II” to commemorate the more current quest for peace.
Voters will be able to choose which painting or vote on both paintings they desire to appear on a U.S. postage stamp. These votes will be submitted to the U.S. Postal Service to provide the public support needed for consideration of this commemorative subject.
With the launch of Stampvote.com, the public will have the opportunity to show that they will “Never Forget Them” and their sacrifice while serving to keep our freedom. The website will link the viewer to two websites, StuartDwork.com for the purchase of original artwork, and AffirmationStar.com for the purchase of reproductions of Stuart’s artwork. Stuart will be donating 15% of all proceeds to an organization that supports military families.
